JOSEPH BEUYS : THE COUNTRYMAN OF THE FIELDS

Low-tech digital fanzine

David Legrand and Philippe Zunino, 2023

Rustico-Conceptual Manifesto, where the legacy of Beuys is transplanted into the imaginary fields of Berry. A mutant figure, cobbled together and nourished by local mythologies and the leftover plasticities of contemporary art, this character replays the role of the artist-shaman within a fictive rurality — teetering between parody and spectral apparition. This rural Beuys doesn’t operate in museums, but in squatted barns, ideological embankments, or fields saturated with absurd artefacts. Self-publishing becomes here a method of proliferation: unfiltered, without institutional validation, with humor as its only doctrine. In collaboration with Zunino, this creation takes the form of a wild online edition — composed of warped narratives blending low-tech comics, recycled mythology, and fictionalized folklore — each page acting as a post-rural tract.
