Ready Made In Gore

The Murder of Marcel Duchamp by Robert Filliou

A cult, burlesque and action video by Legrand / Zunino.

In this irreverent farce with the airs of a Dadaist trial, Legrand and Zunino reenact — by inverting it — the founding myth of contemporary art. Somewhere between fictitious tribunal, absurd ritual, and existential puppet theatre, Marcel Duchamp becomes the pretext for a poetic settling of scores with art history, refracted through the explosive lens of Robert Filliou. With Fabrice Cotinat as an anachronistic avenger and Marylin Chutet in a half-chimerical, half-political role, this film-performance spirals into a chaotic ceremony — a joyful sabotage and grotesque meditation on the end of the avant-gardes.
